As far as free broadband is concerned things have been very quiet over the past few weeks.
But i thought i would inform you of a change in the offering from Orange. Basically they are now going to make you pay an extra £5 per month if you want a connection speed higher than 2mb. Bit of a cheek in my book but then just to rub more salt in the wounds they will also charge people who are getting the free under 2mb service 50p a minute to report a fault.
Nice one Orange!

Being an Orange mobile user, I jumped at the chance of their free broadband - “How convenient!” I thought.
Not so convenient was the 2 months of repeated calls to Orange trying to receive the equipment required to use the service.
I moved house earlier in the year, and although I have informed Orange THREE times of my change of address, they sent the equipment to my old address. 200+ miles away. They did this three, yes THREE times.
Each time I failed to receive the equipment, i would waste hours on the phone to them, waiting 20-30 mins each time, just waiting for my call to be answered, and then further time while i was passed around, repeating the same information again and again.
Each time they (eventually) ‘discovered’ that they had sent equipment to the wrong house, I again provided the fresh details. And each time the equipment never turned up.
After too many calls of 25 mins or longer over this period, I finally cancelled the whole thing.
You know how long that took?
10 seconds.
I am still with Orange Mobile (well, i had to sign an 18mth contract to be eligible for the broadband after all), but I will be paying another provider for my Broadband. it’s just not worth it.
The one useful thing i can pass onto you is this: When phoning Orange, phone around 8-8:40 am. You have a much better chance of getting through before your coffee gets cold. Good luck!
